Rates
Price is usually the first thing that a client is looking for when hiring a disc jockey. And prices can range from seemingly too cheap, to seemingly outrageously high. We consider our rates to be affordable. We are not the least expensive, but we are clearly not the most expensive. When comparing rates, ask questions. This is the only way to truly know if you are "getting what you pay for". Ask questions like "how much experience do your DJ's have?", "do your DJ's take requests?", how much knowledge do your DJ's have of music?", "what kind of equipment do you use and how do you obtain your music?". These are just a few samples of the questions that you want to ask before hiring a disc jockey.
A full breakdown of our rates can be found on the page "Events And Prices" on this website. Our rates are all inclusive for the event. What exactly does this mean? It means that the price that you see covers everything from the first contact, to the "thank you for using our service" handshake at the conclusion of your event. Please understand, when you hire About Entertainment, and the same can probably be said for most disc jockeys, there is much more "behind the scenes" that is being done. We are not just playing your music from such a time to such a time on a given date. Depending on the type of function, we spend on average up to ten hours on non-wedding type events, and anywhere from twenty to thirty hours working on weddings.
Here is how About Entertainment will work for you. First is the initial contact. Whether it be by email, voice mail, or actual voice contact, the time will be given to you to answer all of your questions. Second, it is always a good idea to "meet" with your disc jockey, or at least the company that you are hiring. This gives you the opportunity to "feel" if the service is going to meet your needs, especially on the personality level. And we will meet with you as often as you desire. Next, About Entertainment believes in catering to its clients with the music. About Entertainment is a request-friendly disc jockey service. We will work with you to pick out the music that you want to hear at your event, and play requests from your guests (if you so desire to allow them). For this reason, we do not use pre-set, universal playlists. Each playlist is created for each individual client. Then of course, there is the date of your event.
So, as you can see, About Entertainment will take the time to work with you to ensure that your event goes as you want it to.
Music
Our music is purchased legally from a variety of services. They include but are not limited to I-Tunes, Yahoo Music Match, Rhapsody, Amazon.com, BMG Music Service, and Sam Goody. We have either receipts (from on-line purchases), or the actual CDs, Cassettes or Vinyl to show proof of purchase.
Our music catalogue spans eight decades and covers almost every genre of music. With over 10,000 songs, this allows us to meet the needs of anyone's choice of music for their specific event.
Experience
The following is not just a resume of my experience in the disc jockey industry, but music overall.
I am third-generation musician in my family. Starting with vocals over thirty years ago, eventually blending in keyboards, and experimenting with guitars, the foundation was built. I began disc jockeying on college radio over twenty years ago, followed by a brief stint in commercial radio. It was during my radio days when I was exposed to live gigs and decided that live performances was the way that I wanted to go. Playing music in front of people definitely was much better than being confined in a small radio booth.
Over the years, I have established relationships with both families and businesses. My service is invited annually for birthday parties, school dances, fundraisers, and reunions. About Entertainment is also hired annually by non-profit organizations such as the North Penn YMCA and Adoptions From The Heart.
Locations
About Entertainment has performed at many different types of locations, and many geographical areas. Whether it be a banquet hall, a back yard, a high school football stadium, or convention center, no location is too small or too big.
We are located Lansdale. Our service typically expands to Lehigh, Bucks, Montgomery, Berks, and Chester Counties. On occasion, our service has travelled as far north as the Poconos, as far south as Delaware, as far west as Lancaster, and as far east as New Jersey. And with special arrangements, this past year, we were hired to disc jockey in Seattle, Washington, and also Charleston, West Viriginia. Next year, we are currently slated to disc jockey in North Carolina.
Equipment
Our equipment is of professional grade disc jockey equipment. It consists of, but is not limited to:

- Numark CDN30 Dual CD Deck
- Numark CDN35 Dual CD Deck
- JBL Powered Speakers
- Cordless and Standard Microphones
- Maganvox Monitor (for Karoaoke)
- Numark KMX02 Dual Karoake CD+G Mixer (for Karoake)
- American DJ Lighting including disco ball, trilogy and double twist, strobe, laser, fog machine, etc. (if lighting required)
Insurance And Registration
Our disc jockey service is fully insured with Erie Insurance. What does this mean to our clients? Often times, establishments will require a "certificate of insurance" as the establishment does not wish to be liable for any damages involving the disc jockeys. If your location requires this certificate, our insurance carrier will be notified of this need, and will either fax or mail the certificate to you. Being fully insured also protects our business and its equipment. So, carrying full insurance is good for you, and good for us.
About Entertainment Disc Jockey And Emcee Service is legally registered in the state of Pennsylvania as an official business entity. There are two main reasons for this. The first, because my personal name, Paul Edelman, is not mentioned in the business name, this is required. Second, all contracts signed with About Entertainment, are legal and binding, for both our clients, and About Entertainment.
